Österlen in Sweden

Österlen is one of Sweden’s top culinary regions. Popular specialties include äggakaka (a thick, oven-baked pancake), spettekaka, local lamb, and fresh apples from the region’s many orchards. Visitors also enjoy smoked fish from Kåseberga, Kivik apple cider and must, and pastries from cozy farm cafés. In summer, ice cream, strawberries, and freshly baked bread are favorites. Many explore farm shops offering olive oil, cheese, chocolate, and craft beer.

Österlen is famous for art, craftsmanship, and historic sites. Must-sees include Ales Stenar (the ancient stone formation in Kåseberga), the charming coastal towns of Simrishamn, Brantevik, Kivik, and Skillinge, as well as the vibrant Österlen Art Walk. During Easter, the region hosts Konstrundan, Sweden’s largest open-art exhibition.
